Wesley J. Johnston – Chief Executive Officer

Wes Johnston

Mr. Johnston joined TIA as its CEO in June 2017. He brings more than 25 years of experience delivering global solutions in information and communications technologies (ICT), as well as a keen sense of how business, government and associations should work together to drive industry innovation. Prior to joining TIA, Mr. Johnston was the Managing Director of Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT investments for the Gores Group, a leading global private equity M&A firm). As an active technology company board member, he was responsible for portfolio company oversight as well as leading operational due diligence efforts for the firm's TMT investments. Prior to joining The Gores Group, Mr. Johnston held senior executive positions with global, multi-national firms as well as start-up technology companies. He was EVP and Chief Operating Officer with Dimension Data, where he led sales, marketing, solutions development and service delivery across the Americas for the $6 billion technology integrator.

Mr. Johnston earned a BA from Princeton University, an Executive MBA from George Mason University and completed a two-week European study program at Oxford University. A lifelong technologist, he is also a cyber security co-patent holder: No. 20150244771 – “System and method for interconnecting and enforcing policy between multiple disparate providers of application functionality and data centers and/or end-use.”

Susan Medick - Chief Financial Officer

Susan Medick

Susan Medick joined TIA in January 2017 bringing more than 20 years of association management and accounting experience with her. Susan oversees the Accounting and Human Resources departments and assists in board governance and strategic planning. She is also the staff liaison to the TIA Finance and Audit committees.

Prior to joining TIA, Susan was the CFO/COO at the Auto Care Association (formerly the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association) in Bethesda, Md. She oversaw the association’s operations and finance departments and was responsible for the accounting and reporting activity of nine entities, comprised of nonprofit (both 501(c)6 and 501(c)3), political and for-profit entities. Susan began her career working in public accounting at Grant Thornton as an auditor specializing in exempt organizations.

Susan received her Bachelors of Science in accounting from University of Maryland, College Park and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Association Executive (CAE).

Susan Schramm - Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Vice President, Membership

Susan Schramm

Susan Schramm has served in top sales and marketing roles for a range of innovative, high-tech companies. Most recently at Viavi Solutions, Schramm served as Vice President, Global Sales and Channel Effectiveness. She served as Head of Global Portfolio Solutions Marketing at Nokia and Head of North American Marketing at Nokia Siemens Networks, having previously led Carrier Sales at Siemens. While in these roles, Schramm also served as an officer on the TIA board of directors, and on the board of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).


Cinnamon Rogers - Senior Vice President, Government Affairs

Cinnamon Rogers brings to TIA more than 20 years of corporate, association, government and legal experience. She has held senior level government relations positions with Time Warner Inc. and Time Warner Cable, Discovery Communications, and NCTA - The Internet & Television Association. Rogers’ time in government included working on Capitol Hill for House Energy and Commerce and Senate Commerce Committee members, as well as serving as Director of Congressional Affairs for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.


John Jacobs – Vice President, Market Intelligence and Research

John Jacobs joined TIA in January 2010. An accomplished, international marketing executive, John brings extensive global marketing, product management, and business development experience to TIA; providing thought leadership for the association as it works on behalf of the continually evolving information and communications technology industry. John also oversees TIA's member services activities.

Prior to joining the TIA leadership team, John was Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, Americas Region of Decisive Media, Ltd., and its cutting-edge online industry media network, TelecomTV.

Earlier John worked at Yankee Group Research as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Product Management. John has also served as Head of the Marketing and Business Development Division for the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Prior to this John worked at MCI Communications Corporation, where he was Director of Marketing for the Wireless and Prepaid Communications Groups.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The American University in Washington, DC and a Masters of Business Administration from Georgetown University.

Andrew Kurtzman - Vice President and General Counsel

Andrew Kurtzman

Andrew Kurtzman is Legal Counsel of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Mr. Kurtzman oversees the contracting for TIA and its tradeshows, both domestic and international. He also serves as the Counsel for the TIA standards department, reviewing meeting reports and publications and helping to ensure fair, technology-neutral processes for the fourth largest ANSI-accredited standards developing organization.

Mr. Kurtzman, an attorney with a distinguished career assisting small businesses and associations, came to TIA from Infostar Inc., an IT consulting firm where, as vice president, he ran a data network of more than 1,000 long term care facilities, the largest of its type in the world. At Infostar, Mr. Kurtzman consulted to MCI Worldcom and to the American Health Care Association. Prior to Infostar, Mr. Kurtzman consulted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on its state revolving fund loan program.

Mr. Kurtzman is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia and has a Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law and a BA in Art History from the University of Michigan.

Stephanie Montgomery – Vice-President, Technology and Standards

Stephanie Montgomery has more than 20 years of experience managing voluntary standards development and international partnerships within the Information and Communications Technology industry.

She currently manages TIA’s standards efforts, which boasts more than 1,000 standards developed by TIA’s engineering committees. In this role, Stephanie oversees the establishment of committee procedures; the implementation, development and advancement of new programs; and overall promotion of TIA standards programs. In addition, she specializes in overseeing the development of standards in the areas of M2M and mobile and point-to-point communications.

Stephanie joined TIA in 1994 and has worked in various positions with a wide range of increasing responsibilities in standards development. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in history and is a member of the Standards Engineering Society.

Taly Walsh – Vice President, Marketing and Networking

Taly Walsh is responsible for TIA's industry events, as well as marketing the association's products and services. Walsh is also charged with growing the Market Intelligence pillar of TIA, building upon the annual ICT Market Review & Forecast produced by TIA.

Walsh joined TIA in 2008, bringing more than 20 years' experience in association and tradeshow marketing, strategic branding and positioning, web development, technology, and public and membership relations.

She was previously Senior Vice President for Marketing and Membership at InfoComm International, an association representing the audiovisual industry. Before that, Walsh led the marketing for CardTech/SecurTech, a tradeshow for the biometrics and security industries, and for Public Technology Institute, an association advancing research and technology in local and state government. Walsh has also been a small business owner in the graphics and publishing sector.

Mary Piper Waters – Senior Director of Operations

Mary Piper Waters is Senior Director of Operations for TIA, with responsibility for Board of Directors' events, meeting planning and office administration. She also serves as Executive Assistant to Wes Johnston, TIA's Chief Executive Officer.

Mary joined TIA in 1991 as Secretary to the Vice President of the Fiber Optics and User Premises Equipment Divisions. She became Standards Technical Assistant/Meeting Planner, providing all secretariat duties to TIA's dozens of engineering committees, before being named Manager of Meetings and Special Events in 2002. Mary was promoted to Director of Operations for the association in 2008. She has also supported TIA's USA Pavilions in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) exhibitions in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, Mary was Customer Service Associate/Store Controller and Accounts Payable Associate in the corporate headquarters of Parisian, Inc., a chain of U.S. department stores. She moved to Washington, D.C., in 1989, where she joined Hecht, Spencer & Associates, a lobbying/ consulting firm.

Mary is a member of the Association of Meeting Professionals and the American Society of Association Executives.
